Visit Happy Cabin
The cabin
There’s something about a classic log cabin that takes you out of the day-to-day and into the magical. It’s like an inside-out treehouse, with rustic charm and modern amenities. Happy Cabin is warm, cozy and smells subtly of cedar. It’s a joyful place for making memories with your friends, family, and pets.
Kids love the bunkroom, with hand-crafted redwood bunkbeds and fun lockers for organizing gear. Pets love the large yard. Foodies love the stocked kitchen with granite counters and stainless appliances. Families love the books, games, and Smart TVs for movies. Audiophiles love the surround-sound systems and turntable for spinning records. Friends love the big dining table next to the fireplace for festive meals. Couples love the deep hot tub with forest views. What’s not to love?
Playful and stylish, Happy Cabin would be a special place anywhere, but it just happens to be blessed with an optimal location. Located on the second hole of the historic Old Brockway Golf Course, you're minutes away from everything, yet feel miles away from it all. A leisurely walk or bike ride takes you to the beach for sunning, swimming, beach volleyball, and a barbecue. Walk to a trailhead that meanders through the woods to North Tahoe Regional Park and a treetop adventure course. Appealing restaurants, shops, and even casinos, are minutes away. For skiing, boarding and mountain biking, hop on the bus for a quick ride to Northstar California Resort, less than 10 minutes door-to-door. Squaw Valley Alpine Meadows, Mount Rose, Diamond Peak, and Homewood are also nearby. While everyone else is wrangling crowds to get home, you'll be back at the cabin, catching the sunset from the deck, slipping into the hot tub under the stars, or sipping a drink in front of the fire.
You’ll love the cabin's vintage design, crafted to take you back to a simpler time. Downstairs, the living/dining area has a gas fireplace, cozy sofas, and a large table for gathering. A well-equipped kitchen with granite counters and stainless appliances has everything you need to make a delicious meal. The downstairs bedroom is a serene retreat, with a king bed, french doors to the deck, and a bathroom with shower/tub combo. Upstairs, you'll find another bathroom with shower, along with two charming guest rooms--a calming refuge with a queen bed/twin trundle, and a bunk room for the kids and kids-at-heart with 2 sets of twin-over-full bunks, a full sofa bed, and 6 lockers for organizing gear.
This is the kind of place that brings you together for board games, story-telling, and conversation. But that doesn't mean you have to give up movie night. There are Smart TVs in the family room and bunkroom for streaming, with Bluetooth surround sound systems for syncing your Tahoe playlist. Downstairs, there’s a turntable with vintage vinyl for spinning records.
Outside the cabin, enjoy a large yard with space for lounging and playing games in the summer, or building snowmen and snow forts in the winter. Park your boat or small trailer with ease. Relax on the sofas or in the hot tub overlooking a lawn area that merges into a Jeffrey-pine studded golf course, enjoyed by Bing Crosby, Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, and gangster "Bones" Remmel. This is the first 9-hole golf course to become an Audubon cooperative sanctuary, which means you'll have front-row seats to a wildlife corridor visited by song birds, geese, and even the occasional black bear. A picnic table beckons you outside for leisurely meals under the sky.
This is our family’s “happy place.” We hope you will love it as much as we do.
The location
Happy Cabin is on the border of Tahoe Vista and Kings Beach, a walk or bike ride from a charming public beach, in a comfortable lakeside community on Tahoe's North Shore. Boat launches, kayak and paddle-board rentals, hiking, and ski shuttles are all close-by. Families love the North Tahoe Regional Park, with its tree-top adventure course, disc golf, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, and playgrounds. You'll find an assortment of appealing restaurants and convenient shopping nearby.
