Fourth of July Favorites
Fourth of July is one of North Lake Tahoe’s most iconic holidays. What better way to celebrate independence and the start of summer than on the lake? Our local communities go big, with festive decorations, parades, and award-winning fireworks displays. Here are a few of our favorite celebrations:
If you didn’t get enough snow this winter, ski and ride at Squaw Valley all week, with daily live music performances, pool parties and fireworks.
This one is right in Happy Cabin’s own backyard. On July 3, head to Kings Beach for the community’s 39th Annual Fireworks and Beach Party. Enjoy a beer and wine garden, food vendors, a brass band, comfortable seating and, of course, fireworks.
Start the day right by running, walking, or strolling a 5K or 10K course to the beach. Start at North Tahoe Regional Park and make your way to the lake with friends and family. Now you’ve earned a plate of barbecue and a drink or two.
This is the place to be on July 4. Think all-day “block party,” with food and drink specials and a DJ, followed by the spectacular 73rd Annual Dyno-Mite Big Bang 4th of July Fireworks Show.
Finish off the week at Happy Cabin’s home resort with the 13th annual Beerfest & Bluegrass Festival, with live music and fresh brews from over 40 different breweries.
Now is the time to make vacation plans, especially in North Lake Tahoe, where the week of July 4th books up in the Spring, leaving stragglers car camping and couch surfing. The extra planning is worth it. The Firelite Lodge in Tahoe Vista is always a good choice. Cabins and houses go for high-season rates during 4th of July week but can still be economical, especially if you have pets, children, or a larger group and plan to do your own grilling and cooking.
